Salvation / Justification
26For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly
standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 27But God chose
what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to
shame the strong; 28God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things
that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, 29so that no human being might
boast in the presence of God. 30He is the source of your life in Christ Jesus, whom God
made our wisdom and our righteousness and sanctification and redemption.
31Therefore, as it is written, "Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord." (1 Corinthians 1:26-31)
8For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is
the gift of God, 9not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10For we are his
workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand,
that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:8-10)
10For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, "Cursed be
everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do
them." 11Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for "The
righteous shall live by faith." (Galatians 3:10-11)
28For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law. (Romans 3:28)
6But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no
longer be grace. (Romans 11:6)
2For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not
before God. 3For what does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was
counted to him as righteousness." 4Now to the one who works, his wages are not
counted as a gift but as his due. (Romans 4:2-4)
5he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his
own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, 6whom he
poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7so that being justified by his
grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. (Titus 3:5-7)
6But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no
longer be grace. (Romans 11:6)
8in order that I may gain Christ 9and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith (Philippians 3:8-9)
21For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might
become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
